How I Got This Bike

The 1998 Checkerboard BMW K1200RS needed the fuel pump replaced since the spring of 2024.  So when my friend Austin wanted to sell his 2001 K1200RS, I offered to buy it. I had gone with him when he bought it a few years back and knew the bike and the maintenance it had received.  It had just 20,620 miles.
  This bike came with:

- BMW hard saddle bags
- Sargeant seat
- new rear tire
- heated grips

- Zumo GPS with gas tank mount
2025

This is a very familiar ride since it's the 3rd K1200 RS I've owned. The ride is solid and stable at any speed.  The Sargeant seat works well for me.  Less  leg bend issues.  Ridden to PA with Tim, Wendy and Andrea for overnight trip.

The bike developed the same fork leak as the Checkerboard Bike.   This bike's fork seals were done at Parker MX near Schylerville and then the seals for the 1998 bike were fixed there as well.  Oil was changed at 24,000 miles (June 2026).

Front tire, Michelin Pilot Power 2 CT 120/70ZR17 (58W) replaced at 24,600 miles. Old one was asymmetrically worn.

Sold to a experienced rider from Florida who had owned one previously, on Sept. 25th with 24,657 miles. (He also bought the other K1200 [1998] for a friend).
